Oh boy... GDPR and Privacy, that part of running a website that fills webmasters with dread. Here we go.
As someone who really, really values their privacy, I think the new data privacy laws and regulations, often referred to as GDPR, have delivered some welcome protections and safeguards for individuals.
While it is true that the regulations prevent businesses and organisations from using our personal details in contentious, and/or less-than-honest ways, it makes running websites like this one, which is more about hosting a passion project for the world to see, than it is about making money and selling you stuff, quite difficult and honestly, very worrying to run.
As much as I love rules, these privacy regulations are very involved, require a lot of work, documentation, monitoring and reviewing. Let's just call it how it is, they are downright stressful.
With this website, my goal is to create my very own, personal, bespoke website and web application on which to self-publish my original manga project. This has been a passion project that I envisioned back in 2003, and work on recreationally. It's intent is to be a place where I can present my story and artwork to the world, and create an experience for my readers, for the love of the art, artform and web technology. It is less concerned with making money or selling stuff. That means I do not have any need to track you or collect a bunch of your data so that I can make sales etc.
The bottom line is... I don't want your data!
Unfortunately, even for the simplest of websites, some data processing is unavoidable, simply because of the way the internet works. I will take every measure possible and feasible to minimise any data collected, and only capture what is absolutely necessary to provide the website and reading experience.
My name is Nazeerudeen Ruhomutally. This website is a personal project to self-publish an original manga that I create.
The data that might be collected when you use this website include:
I will continually review what data I collect, and I will endeavor to always drastically minimise the data collected. While my ultimate goal would be to build systems that do not use any personal data, the unfortunate truth is that some data processing is unavoidable, because of the way the internet itself works.
Any data that might be collected will only be retained for as long as necessary to do what it was needed for (unless there is any legal requirement to retain it for longer), and deleted securely once it is no longer needed.
Your IP address is used to allow you to access the website, and for ensuring the applications and the servers that host it are operating correctly and securely.
If you communicate with me through email, I will only use your email address to respond to your communications and nothing else.
Only myself, and the service providers used to host the website and databases or email providers will have access to any data that may be captured.
I will never sell your data to anyone.
Data protection laws give you certain rights concerning your data. Not all of these rights apply in all circumstances.
You can contact me at to exercise any rights that apply... but... as I already drastically minimise data collection, I don't really have much, if any, data that I could actually link to you personally anyway. All I could really link to you individually is if you've actually sent me any emails.
The future is not always predictable. I might need to adjust what personal data is needed in order to provide the website and so this privacy notice may change from time to time. Any changes will be posted to this page so please check in from time to time.
